JD Vance’s Fumble-Filled Week: From Diplomatic Missteps to Trophy Drops

Updated: Apr 16

Vice President JD Vance has had a week that can only be described as a series of unfortunate events, each more embarrassing than the last.

A Diplomatic Cold Shoulder in Greenland

Vance’s week began with a frosty reception in Greenland. Despite clear messages from Greenlandic and Danish officials advising against his visit, Vance proceeded, only to find himself largely unwelcome. His presence, tied to controversial remarks about U.S. interests in Greenland, did little to endear him to local leaders or the international community .

Controversial Remarks Stir International Backlash

Adding to his woes, Vance faced criticism for comments made during a Fox News interview, where he referred to “Chinese peasants” while discussing tariffs. The remark was met with strong condemnation from Beijing, labeling it as “ignorant and disrespectful” .

The Trophy Fumble Heard ’Round the World

The week reached its climax during a White House ceremony honoring the Ohio State Buckeyes for their national championship win. As an alumnus, Vance attempted to lift the College Football Playoff trophy, only for it to come apart in his hands. The base fell to the ground, and while running back TreVeyon Henderson managed to catch the top portion, the incident left onlookers gasping. Vance later tried to play off the mishap with a joke on social media, but the moment had already gone viral .

A Week to Forget

From diplomatic blunders to public gaffes, Vice President Vance’s week serves as a reminder that in politics, as in football, it’s crucial to hold onto the ball—and your credibility.
